Kaya Meller formed her quartet—with trumpet, piano, double bass, and
drums—in 2015 while studying in Austria. The quartet features her
original compositions based on melodies, improvisation, and rhythm
inspired by musicians from different countries and cultures. The main
impact on her work was studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Meetings and collaborating with musicians from all around the world has
opened new horizons of sound and colors in the process of creating
music. In March the band recorded a debut album called “Kaya Meller
Quartet - Reflections."
