With The Rose of Battle, Irish-Austrian bassist, composer, and Berklee faculty member Ciara Moser presents a project that blends Irish folk traditions with the expressive depth of modern jazz and the sonic richness of fusion. Inspired by the poetry of W. B. Yeats, Patrick Kavanagh, and Anthony Raftery, the music unfolds in a narrative, powerful, and emotionally compelling way. Reflecting Moser’s perspective as a blind musician, the project also explores themes of empowerment and artistic self-determination. Joined by internationally acclaimed guests such as Nate Smith and Nicole McCabe, Moser creates a richly textured sound world where Irish melody, contemporary improvisation, and global influences come together.
