About the event
Drummer Jochen Rueckert presents his new New York City Quartet - a band of standout young musicians, decades his junior, challenging him to keep up while championing the next generation.
Drawing on experience with the Kurt Rosenwinkel Quartet and Sam Yahel Trio, Rueckert has long proven his bandleading chops; his previous quartet with Mark Turner, Lage Lund, or Mike Moreno toured internationally for over 15 years. As a side person, he’s worked with Fred Hersch’s trio, Melissa Aldana, Seamus Blake/Chris Cheek’s Reed’s Ramble, Marc Copland, Nils Wogram’s Root 70, and more, performing on major stages worldwide—including his favorite, the Village Vanguard.
The Band is releasing its debut album “How to Survive a Beheading” - Jochen’s 7th jazz album as a band leader - on November 27, 2026
