Oriental Express - Omar El Ouaer feat. Veronika Kumar

This new international collaboration brings together five distinctive musical voices from Tunisia, Slovenia, and Brazil. The project was born after Slovenian saxophonist and composer met acclaimed Tunisian pianist Omar El Ouaer at the International Jazz Platform in Lyon, where the idea for a shared musical journey first emerged.

Joining them are Slovenian vocalist Veronika Kumar, Brazilian drummer Matheus Jardim, and Slovenian bassist Tjan Šoštarič. Together, the ensemble explores a vibrant musical landscape where Tunisian and Balkan musical traditions intertwine with the language of modern jazz.

Rooted in rich folk heritage yet driven by improvisation and contemporary expression, the music offers a fresh dialogue between cultures—bridging the Mediterranean and the Balkans through compelling melodies, intricate rhythms, and spontaneous interplay.
