Tuesday Session feat. Filip Kostoláni

The Tuesday session will be opened by the saxophonist and composer Filip Kostoláni, whose vision of implementation of saxophone playing using the structural elements of the instrument to one’s advantage and an emphasis on very controlled overtone usage not necessarily by overblowing, typical of Coltrane-informed improvisers such as Evan Parker, into the more conventional, non-freeform modalities of jazz expression is increasingly blooming into fruition. To bring a new level of expression of something which he considers a deeply personal sound, he has teamed up with two well-established forward thinking musicians, Tobias Meissl and Ivar Roban Krizić, as well as the obviously talented drummer and often collaborator Jonas Zink. The programme will consist of Filip’s never before played compositions, crafted specifically for this band and its envisioned sound.
